21st Annual National Cancer Survivors Day!
Cancer Survivors, Families and Friends to Unite for 21st Annual
National Cancer Survivors Day Celebration
Cancer survivors, their families and friends will unite to celebrate life during the upcoming 21st annual National Cancer Survivors Day Celebration sponsored by Mayo Clinic Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society.
The free “Mexican Fiesta” celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2008, at the Mayo Civic Center Auditorium. Lunch will be provided at 11:30 a.m., followed by a program to celebrate and honor cancer survivors at 12:30 p.m. Activities include entertainment, children’s games, and activities for the entire family.
“This celebration of life is for everyone,” says Janine Kokal, planning committee chair. “Whether you’re a cancer survivor, a family member, a friend or a medical professional, this event provides an opportunity for cancer survivors to connect with other survivors, and reunite with medical staff and families they’ve met along the way. Having the opportunity to meet other cancer survivors, especially the many long-term survivors, is an inspiring experience for all of us.”
Reservations are required by May 26, 2008. To register, call (507) 424-4602.

St. Baldricks raises money for Pediatric Cancer Research. Participates gather pledges to shave their heads in solidarity with children going through cancer treatment! 30 people volunteered to have their head's shaved to raise money for pediatric cancer research. They managed to raise $20,000 dollars! Thanks to Dr. Iqbal and Amber did a great job organizing the event! Photographer Bob did a great job documenting the event and ended up sitting in the wrong chair to rest! As soon as he sat down Will and Katherine Canan raised $200 for Bob to shave his head and beard! Check out the pictures in the photo section! Thanks to all the families that showed up and hopefully everyone had a great time!
